Wave Dance
This enormous watercolor from 1994 is among a handful of the largest I’ve painted. It spent several years hanging in a collector friend’s office before being relegated to 10 years sandwiched between sheets of plywood and drywall in workshop purgatory. It was liberated by a Navy Veteran who worked there and simply asked if he could have it. After hanging in his home for many years, it has now returned to its birthplace, Cannon Beach, Oregon.
I milled the oak frame, stained gray, with a simple rounded edge. At that time there were limited moldings available, large enough to handle a watercolor this size, most of which I didn’t feel were appropriate. It along with the mats show some of what it has been through. This is an ‘as is’ price, and although no improvements are needed or necessary, we will gladly provide the costs to reframe it to its new owner’s preference. I was thrilled to see it again and pleased it is in remarkably good condition given its circuitous journey.
