Pulling into the beach park I knew immediately there would be a painting coming from this morning’s walk. So, I hustled down the trail to get some photographs to work from before the sun rose any higher. This is a simple and yet complex painting and while it’s tempting to add a whole bunch of stuff: driftwood, birds, rocks etc. the painting then becomes about them. The story I’m trying to tell is a solitary, wide open expanse of beach and sky welcoming you into a new day.
