Crinkle Wave #2
If you soak a piece of watercolor paper, wad it into a ball and then flattening it back out and continue painting on it this is what you get. With this painting I also utilized gold watercolor pigment washes over the nearly finished painting to modify the color slightly toward a beautiful blue green. As a bonus, when the light hits it, there’s a sparkle the gold adds to the overall painting suggesting salt filled sunset atmosphere. I call these “crinkle” paintings because they remind me of the crinkle cookies my wife makes.
