Clay Rock Breaker
When I was in High School, a friend and I ran across a patch of clay along the coast and dragged enough back to our ceramics class to make a couple pots. We asked our teacher if we could fire it and she, appreciating our resourcefulness of course, said yes.
A lot of the ingredients in our modern artists’ pigments are as old as dirt and often literally are dirt. So, continuing the tradition, while out on my morning walk, I found a small clay bank and pocketed some to take back to my studio. I drew this sketch of a wave with that chunk of clay from Arcadia Beach.
