Between Forest and Sea

The Pacific continues to deposit driftwood of every size and shape onto our beaches where winter storms then force them up against the bank. After a good rain it seems as though every hundred yards or so one of these small creeks exits the forest. I find the design of the sand islands and ragged edges fascinating and I’m still enough of a kid to want to walk the edge causing the sand to collapse. Each high tide wipes the sand clean and as it retreats, the creeks sculpt anew their paths to the sea.
