Beach Stream & Pelicans

Every spring Brown Pelicans migrate back to the Cannon Beach area and further north. They are harbingers of spring and a reminder that winter is over and longer, warmer days will be returning soon. I’ve long enjoyed the patterns carved through the sand as our little beach creeks and stream return to the ocean the rainwater that’s fallen. I repeated the ‘S’ shape of the stream in the sky to tie the composition together with the design principle of repetition. I painted this watercolor in 1991 while living in Arch Cape, just south of Cannon Beach and now have it back available for sale in the gallery.
