Aqua Agua

Occasionally, I start a painting with only a vague idea of where it’s headed. In this case a single breaking wave of ocean hues. As I continued painting, I realized it would be harder to stop than keep painting. If I’d kept working it, in the end it would have admittedly been more “dramatic”, but the elusive sense of motion it contained would have slowly vanished with each additional brush stroke.

So, this painting is not meant to be “picture perfect” but to give the viewer that sense of power and unrelenting energy the ocean we all love possesses.
